Blog Post 3 - Interviews and Marketing

It's never easy to open yourself up, only to have someone tear you down. The same can be said for job interviews. So, for this blog, I'm going to introduce a list of 5 tips to help those going into the work force for the first time!

Tips for Interviews:

1. Dress for Success. Looking your best for a night out on the town, or to impress that possible Mister Right is great. Dressing to impress a future employer is even better. It's always been said that you should dress one level above the job you want, which shows an employer that you are serious and ready for the job. It also shows a future employer what sort or person you are, and if needed, how they can expect you to dress in the event of a company function or party.

2. Have a Resume ready. By having a resume ready, it shows employers that you mean business. It gives an employer a chance to get to know you before they talk to you by looking at your accomplishments, goals, skills, and previous work experience. Resumes don't have to be a show-all-tell-all document, but they make a great first impression in writing.

3.  Remember to breathe. Everyone gets nervous before an interview, and that's okay. just remember to take a deep breath and smile. The person interviewing you won't bite.

4. Be polite and courteous. Always let the person interviewing you finish speaking before jumping in. It shows that you are an effective listener, and that shows them that you are willing to hear out clientele. It is bad form to discuss money and benefits right away, especially if you haven't been offered a job, so it's best to save those questions for after you've been offered a job.

5. Be yourself. No one likes a phony. By being yourself, within reason, you are more likely to get the job you want. It also shows how you will act towards future coworkers and clientele. If you're nice, dedicated, and enthusiastic, you're desirable.
