A How-To on Using a Microwave

In today's day and age, many people do not have time to cook a meal. The microwave oven has made cooking a prepackaged meal easy and quick.

1. Select a meal. Note: The desired meal may come in several forms. Frozen foods may require more time for cooking than one that is in a can or requires hot water.

2. Consult the meal's cooking directions. Note: Some microwave ovens operate at a lower or higher wattage and may require more or less cooking time for meals.

3. Place the meal in the microwave.

4. Set the timer for the meal's recommended cooking time.

5. Wait for the meal to cook. Note: This is a good time to do a quick chore or two while waiting.

6. The microwave will beep when the food is done. Consult the meal's package to make sure there are no additional cooking instructions. WARNING: The food and plate will be hot. Use caution when removing the plate from the microwave.

Tip: When removing a plate or container from the microwave oven, use a paper towel or clean, dry rag to protect your hands. Most food packages will also suggest a cool down time.

7. Remove the meal.

8.Enjoy.
